Trevor Clark, CFRE
Gift Planning Specialist
With over twenty years experience in the non-profit sector, Trevor Clark is a fundraising leader with advanced qualifications and successful leadership experience in organizations of national and international scope. He offers broad experience and proven success in all aspects of fundraising, team building, program development, implementation and strategic management within healthcare, academic, and social work organizations. Planned giving is Trevor’s particular area of specialization developed in serving in some of the best fundraising organizations in the country.

Trevor most recently served as Director of Development, Planned Giving for Queen’s University. In this role, he oversaw the University’s Tomorrow Fund, which saw year over year increases under his leadership, growing from $113 million in 2006 to $152 million in 2009. The Planned Giving team recorded confirmed expectancies of $20 million in 2008-2009 alone. This role required him to be knowledgeable in all areas of gift planning including such complex topics as flow through shares, stock options and all aspects of estate management.
Trevor has extensive experience working with donors in the USA. While at Queen’s he was also the Executive Director of the US Foundation for Queen’s University. The team’s success rested on his ability to develop a highly structured business plan with measurable goals focused on fundraising, stewardship, productivity and sustainability.

As Manager of Planned Giving and Major Gifts for Sickkids Hospital Foundation, Trevor led the highly successful Legacy Leaders campaign, resulting in $3.2 million in bequests in a single year. His approach displayed his unique understanding of donors’ needs and interests while fostering confidence in and passion for the organization. He also established the Sickkids Legacy Advisors Program to engage professionals in the areas of law, estate planning, trusts and wealth management.

Trevor also served as Territorial (National) Director of Corps Planned Giving for the Salvation Army, Canada & Bermuda. While there he successfully established a national fundraising and stewardship plan. He was extensively involved in the recruitment, training and mentoring of volunteers.

Trevor was educated at Edge Hill College of Lancaster University (UK) and has enjoyed a successful and enjoyable teaching career in both the UK and Canada. He serves as a volunteer for the Salvation Army’s Gathering Place, chair and national board member for Conservatory Canada, and a provincial board member for Canadian Music Centre. He is also a frequent speaker at national conferences and roundtables.
